Joël Sylvain has been an inimitable force behind the scenes as an advisor to numerous music executives, philanthropists, C-level executives and children. He has been featured as a Case Study for Steve Mariotti ‘s book New York Times Bestseller.The Young Entrepreneur’s Guide to Starting and Running a Business. Mr. Sylvain has an extensive background in technology, sports and entertainment. He worked at IBM at 16 yrs old as an intern being mentored by the great Vince Gallucio, the number 1 sales representative of IBM. At IBM he learned early leadership, relationship building utilizing technology for collaborative team projects. Afterwards he attended NYU where he was a dual sport student athlete in track and collegiate basketball for NYU in the early 1990’s where he majored in Communications. Following NYU, Sylvain transitioned into the corporate arena by becoming partner/vice president to Bulldog Entertainment, a music management and production company. Sylvain held this role for seven years.
He was a young music executive working with artists,producers and comedians the likes of Freddie Jackson, Najee, Fugees, Tanya Blount, DJ Clark Kent, Puff Daddy, Pete Rock, Tony Dofat, Jam Master Jay, Steve Rhythm, Cory Rooney, Wu Tang Clan, Robin Thicke, Steve Harvey etc…
He had orchestrated a joint venture deal with Elektra Records at 25 yrs old with the CEO Sylvia Rhone, and another partnership with Sony/ATV Publishing with Suzette Charles VP of Music Publishing. During that time he created a marketing consulting company which provided endorsement deals for artists and celebrities in the music industry bringing Reebok, Lugz, Kswiss, Oakley into Urban Lifestyle Branding. This led to him becoming a silent partner for Bulldog Bikes the first Urban bike bmx lifestyle company in the world.
Joel was hired to orchestrate the Kidpreneurs Conference with Black Enterprise. Subsequently he was honored with the nomination of the Black Enterprise Small Rising Business of the Year Award in 1995. He was also recognized as NFTE Small Business of the Year. I have been featured on 20/20, Crains Business, NY Post to name a few. and it was during this time that he was named a “top 20 rising entrepreneur” by the New York Post and was also named the NFTE Young Entrepreneur of the year.
He is currently President and CEO of the consulting firm, Maxamillion Enterprises.
Since his arrival to the Tampa Bay area, Sylvain has already begun making his imprint on the area as a former member of the Board for the Junior Achievement of Hillsborough County, President of the BNI Chapter in South Tampa, Friend of the Florida Venture Forum, and a member of the Committee of 500 Tampa Chamber of Commerce. Currently he is the Executive Producer and Host of Powermoves a Radioshow Podcast
